There are so many memories of Chuck that I smile as I think of the first time I spent time with him and the last time I spent time with him. The first time was when he visited Sacramento in 1969. He joined Cindy and I and my daughter, Stacy, a 6 month old. We went on a trip to the Sacramento Capitol. He was so helpful with Stacy and we had a great day talking politics and history as we toured the grounds.
Over the years we all shared holidays in Auburn, Roseville and visited Seattle a few times too. I know Cindy and Chuck shared some really good times over the years.I always enjoyed seeing him interact with David and Brian. I was impressed with his baby announcements he designed when the boys were born. He was truly creative.
Chuck was very intelligent and opinionated which made for some fun dissussions. It was good to see him at both of his sons' high school graduations. He always had a certain smile when he would say hello after not seeing us for a while.
I have always wished the best for Chuck and I will continue to wish him well on his new journey. I believe he will continue to learn more through new experiences unlike any that have come before. Chuck will not be forgotten. He lives on in my nephews and in the hearts of those who cared about him. We all have a time to rest in peace. It's Chuck's turn. I will miss him.

One Early Memory was in Greece, the rain came and all of the houses because it was a tradition of the Greeks to build a house as a dowery for their Daughters, many houses were started and not completted, we lived off base on the island of Iracklion Crete, we lived down a road and in the heavy rain you could not drive your car up to the house but rather park up above the house and walk down through the water to get home, Chuck was driving a white convertible with red interior and he had white tennis shoes that he did not want to get dirty so he was walking down the road to our house with his shoes and socks off holding them with outstretched arms by their laces keeping them from the water, which seemed like a pool, due to no drain system. Chuck was very particular about how he looked and that his white tennis shoes remained clean and white. When I think of our grown Son's David and Brian they too are pretty particular about how clean their laces and shoes appear. Maybe it is a Gene thing. That was the begaining of holding Chuck in my heart. Chuck I know you are in a wonderful place, I will do my best to stay healthy and give our Son's Love that is Higher than the Sky and Deeper than the Sea. But the love we shared will remain as a precious memory for my lifetime.
